The idea of agglomeration which is becoming very important to public policy and business owners, is the main focus of Mahsa Memarian’s recently defended dissertation, Essays on Corporate Finance and Economies of Agglomeration”.

The author identifies the important effects of urban agglomeration and geographical characteristics of the firms’ locations on their economic activities, financial performance and corporate decisions. The dissertation is based on a theoretical perspective and strong empirical analysis, reflecting the impact of the location characteristics and the management model of the city where corporates are located on how firms do business and perform.

The IESE Library has had a significant influence on Mahsa’s dissertation thanks to the access it has granted her to an extensive collection of data, articles and books. Congratulations on her Ph.D. and we wish her a lot of success!
