Africa is very vulnerable to climate change. The most important consequences for African people relate to water. Some facts reported by <a href=\"http:\/\/thewaterproject.org\/water_stats\" target=\"_blank\">The Water Project<\/a>:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>290 million people do not have access to clean and safe water in Sub-Saharan Africa.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>The average container for water collection in Africa weighs over 40 lbs when full.<\/li>\n<li>Sub-Saharan Africa alone loses 40 billion hours per year collecting water \u2013 equivalent to an entire year&#8217;s labor in all of France.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Global warming will increase\u00a0water scarcity.<\/strong> This will increase the cost of food and other products that depend on it. Even worse, <a class=\"inline-twitter-link inline-tweet-click\" href=\"#\" onclick=\"inline_tweet_sharer_open_win('https:\\\/\\\/twitter.com\\\/intent\\\/tweet?url=https%3A%2F%2Fblog.iese.edu%2Fafrica%2Fwp-json%2Fwp%2Fv2%2Fposts%2F1386%2F&text=Access+to+water+may+be+the+biggest+cause+of+conflict+and+war+in+Africa+in+the+next+25+years+');\" title=\"Tweet This!\">access to water may be the biggest cause of conflict and war in Africa in the next 25 years <span class=\"non-dashicons\"> <\/span><\/a> according to a report by the United Nations cited at <a href=\"http:\/\/know.climateofconcern.org\/index.php?option=com_content&amp;task=article&amp;id=96\" target=\"_blank\">Know Climate Change<\/a>. <strong>Countries that share rivers or lakes are more likely to engage in such wars.<\/strong> Large companies that try to control water should be aware that this may become a major source of conflict, and act accordingly.<\/p>\n<p>We need to make more responsible use of this vital, scarce resource.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Let\u2019s not forget that drinking water is an essential resource \u2013 obvious as it may sound.<\/strong>\u00a0 And still, we keep wasting it.
