We discussed <strong>the brand-new case <a href=\"http:\/\/www.innovis.in\/\" target=\"_blank\">Innovis Telecom<\/a><\/strong>. Actually, both the students and I enjoyed the discussion quite a lot! Founded in 2010, <strong>Innovis is an Indian company that provides services to telecom operators<\/strong>. Uganda and Myanmar are its main markets but they also operate in about 10 other African countries. <strong>Political stability was one area of discussion<\/strong>. The incumbent <strong>President is <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Yoweri_Museveni\" target=\"_blank\">Yoweri Museveni<\/a><\/strong> of the <em><a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/National_Resistance_Movement\" target=\"_blank\">National Resistance Movement<\/a><\/em>. He\u2019s been <strong>in rule for the last 30 years<\/strong>, and plans to still run for the next term. In his favor, he rebelled against the dictatorships of Idi Amin (1971-79) and Milton Obote (1980-85). According to <em><a href=\"http:\/\/www.theafricareport.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">The Africa Report<\/a><\/em>, the opposition parties may have a case if they unite forces. More so given that the ruling party is not cohesive now. However, Museveni may still count with the support of societal segments as diverse as the rural poor, the powerful business community, and women.<\/p>\n<p>Other countries with Presidential elections ahead of them this year:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>February: Niger, and Benin;<\/li>\n<li>April: Djibouti, and Tchad;<\/li>\n<li>May: Scheychelles;<\/li>\n<li>July: Republic of Congo;<\/li>\n<li>August: Gabon;<\/li>\n<li>September: Zambia<\/li>\n<li>November: Equatorial Guinea, Democratic Republic of Congo, and Gambia;<\/li>\n<li>December \u2013 Ghana<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Central African Republic<\/strong> (CAR) <strong>had a first round of elections at the end of last year<\/strong>. No candidate had more than 50% of the votes. <strong>The results were annulled, and a second round of elections will take place this coming week<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>Does this situation resemble to any other you may be familiar with\u2026? I can\u2019t help but of the instability we\u2019re undergoing in my own country\u2026 not to say that Spain is the same as CAR, but\u2026<\/p>\n<p>My blog is not a political one, but <strong>I do comment on business and social issues, and politics touches upon them<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>This week we had a case premier in my MBA class.
