The European Central Bank has just presented its bi-annual financial stability report. In the report a number of downsize risks to the euro zone’s financial sector have been highlighted, in order to encourage efforts towards a further stabilization of the sector.
This issue describes the main trends and events that characterized the operating environment of the euro area financial system over the period lasting from November 28 2008 until May 29 2009. The report warns: “there is no room for complacency because the risks for financial stability remain high, especially since the credit cycle has not yet reached a trough”.
