Leading IT company Hewlett-Packard took top spot in Newsweek‘s inaugural Green Rankings of the 500 largest U.S. companies. They were followed by Dell and Johnson & Johnson in second and third place, respectively.
Companies were ranked based on their actual environmental performance, policies, and reputation as measured by leading environmental researchers KLD Research & Analytics, Trucost, and CorporateRegister.com. The companies are broken down into 15 sectors, based on the FTSE/Dow Jones Industry Classification Benchmark (ICB).
