Working Conditions of Non-standard Workers – Spain

The European Working Conditions Observatory (EWCO) has just published a study conducted by the Spanish National Health and Safety at Work Institute, “Working Conditions of Non-standard Workers”, which sheds light on the working conditions of certain groups of workers, including self-employed workers, those who are not registered with social security, migrant workers and workers on sick leave. The new methodology of the survey, based on interviewing workers in their home, has made it possible to gain a better understanding of different groups of workers in the Spanish labor market, on whom information was previously scarce. Based on data from the Sixth National Survey on Working Conditions, the findings show that self-employed workers benefit from a lower risk profile than all of the other groups under examination.
