The European Patent Office (EPO) and the European Commission last week honored the five prizewinners of the European Inventor Award, who hail from Germany, Switzerland, the USA and Canada. The presentation ceremony took place in Madrid and included the presence of Prince Felipe and Princess Letizia of Asturias.
Now in its fifth year, the European Inventor Award ceremony has been held in conjunction with the European Patent Forum and honors outstanding inventors in the following categories: Industry, SMEs/research, Non-European countries, and Lifetime achievement.
Bioplastics, football-shaped molecules, GPS technology, hydrogen fuel cells and 3-dimensional scanning systems were among the fields covered by the winners of the European Inventor Award 2010.
