Population and Aging: Is Latin America Ready?

(CC) WB

A new report from the World Bank’s Human Development Network warns Latin American countries to prepare for a “graying revolution”. The region’s life expectancy has jumped by 22 years over the last 50 years and its population is now dominated by working-age adults with fewer children.

The report advises countries and communities to develop appropriate policies and institutions to accommodate the region’s powerful demographic shifts to safeguard Latin America’s social and economic future.
