The Think Tanks and Civil Societies Program (TTCSP) at the University of Pennsylvania has just released its seventh annual “2013 Global Tanks Index.”
The index is designed to help identify and recognize the leading centres of excellence in public policy research around the world.
The Brookings Institution ranked top of the Global Think Tank list for the sixth consecutive year. It was followed by Chatham House (United Kingdom), Carnegie Endowment for International Peace (US), Centre for Strategic and International Studies (US) and Stockholm International Peace Research Institute (SIPRI) (Sweden).
Five Spanish think tanks figured among top global think tanks. These were: Fundación para el Análisis y los Estudios Sociales (FAES) (60), Barcelona Centre for International Affairs (CIDOB) (64), Foundation for International Relations and Foreign Dialogue (FRIDE) (72), Real Instituto ElCano (94) and Institución Futuro (137).
The index is considered the most comprehensive ranking of the world’s top think tanks.
