Caritas Europe has just published the report, “The European Crisis and its Human Cost: A Call for Fair Alternatives and Solutions.” The study analyzes the impact of the crisis and austerity on local communities, with a special focus on Cyprus, Greece, Ireland, Italy, Portugal, Romania and Spain.
The study shows that the number of poor has increased in all of the countries surveyed. The official message that Europe is over the worst of the economic crisis is contradicted by the rising levels of poverty and deprivation among its children and youth.
The study is based on a survey conducted in 2013.
