Employment and Social Developments in Europe 2014

(CC) Federico Ravassard/ FlickrThe European Commission has just published the report “Employment and Social Developments in Europe 2014.”

According to the study, countries providing high quality jobs and effective social protection as well as investment in human capital have proved to be more resilient to the economic crisis.

It also stresses the need to invest in the formation and maintenance of the right skills of the workforce to support productivity, as well as the challenge of restoring convergence among Member States.

This year’s Review provides an overview of key employment and social developments and policy responses that can be drawn upon by the new European Commission in its deliberations on the future orientations of the Europe 2020 strategy.
