Hong Kong is the top city destination in the world, with 27.77 million international visitors in 2015, according to Euromonitor International’s latest Top 100 City Destinations Ranking. London pulled in 17.40 million, just ahead of Bangkok at 17.03 million.
In Spain, Barcelona and Madrid performed well, despite growing protests (especially in Barcelona) against the negative impacts of mass tourism.
Euromonitor’s list is compiled from data from 58 core countries, using national statistics and info from airports, hotels and other tourism industry sources.
