The WEF’s Global Risks Report explores some of the most severe risks we may face over the next decade.

EC INFORM. INFORM Risk Index 2024

INFORM is a collaboration of the Inter-Agency Standing Committee Reference Group on Risk, Early Warning and Preparedness and the European Commission. It also publishes INFORM Severity Index and INFORM Climate Change.

European Parliamentary Research Service (EPRS). Future Shocks 2023

The annual ‘Future Shocks’ series reviews global risks, with a focus on specific risks and the capabilities and resilience of the EU system in the face of multiple challenges.

Atlantic Council. Global Foresight 2024

Atlantic Council, a Washington, D.C.-based think tank that focuses on international affairs, identifies the 10 most pressing global risks and analyzes their potential impact on the United States and the world.

RAND. Global and Emerging Risks

RAND Corporation, a U.S.-based think tank that focuses on public policy research, develops novel methods and delivers rigorous research on catastrophic risks to humanity.

Stockholm International Peace Research Institute (SIPRI)

Independent institute focused on global security consistently ranked among the top global think tanks.

UN Global Assessment Report on Disaster Risk Reduction 2024

United Nations Office for Disaster Risk Reduction (UNISDR) provides a comprehensive assessment of disaster risk at the global, regional, and national levels.

Statista. The Polycrisis

Facts, figures, and graphs about the biggest risks the planet faces in the 21st century. In the above link Statista introduces the concept of the Polycrisis, an era of overlapping and mutually reinforcing crises affecting human societies.

Preeminent source of ideas on the management of emerging risks and trends for financial services organizations.

Marsh. The Global Risks Report

The top risks for 2024 and beyond. Data and insights from more than 1,400 global experts and leaders.

Statista. Leading Risks to Businesses Worldwide from 2018 to 2023

Data sourced from Allianz Worldwide for the period 2018 to 2023, with 2,712 respondents consisting of risk management experts from 94 countries and territories.

3. Country Risks

Business Source Ultimate. Country Reports

Contains country reports from various publishers such as S&P Global, IHS Markit Ltd., and PRS Group (Political Risk Group). In the advanced search, enter the country name in the search box and limit the search by selecting ‘Country report’ under ‘Publication type’.

Passport. Country Reports

Contains country PEST Analysis. Find country PEST analysis by navigating to: Economies > Explore Analysis > Choose “Economy, Finance and Trade” > Select “Country Report” > Choose your desired Geography.

MarketLine

Enter the country name in the search box and click on the ‘All research’ arrow to filter by ‘Country Profiles.’ You will retrieve a Country Analysis Report with in-depth PESTLE insights.

OECD. Country Risk Classification

List of country risk classifications publicly available and published on the OECD website by Export Credit Agencies experts.

Bloomberg Country Risk Assessment

The Bloomberg Country Risk Assessment spreadsheet provides comprehensive, historical risk profiles and relative risk scores for more than 80 countries.

To view Bloomberg Country Risk tickers on Bloomberg terminal run: ECST S Bloomberg Country Risk. Individual sub-scores for currency (ALLX EICU), banking (ALLX EIBA), and sovereign risk (ALLX EISO) can be accessed as well.

Country Risk Premium: Bloomberg calculates the country risk premium as the return on a country’s stock market minus the risk free rate (typically government bonds) for the country. A recent figure for the United States is 7.09% where the risk free rate is 2.78% (ten year U.S. bonds) and the market rate is 9.88% (return on the S&P 500). For access type CRP<GO>.

Geopolitical Risk Index

A measure of adverse geopolitical events and associated risks based on a tally of newspaper articles covering geopolitical tensions and examining their evolution and economic effects since 1900. Country-specific indexes are also provided for 44 different countries.

4. Industry Risks

MarketLine

Contains Industry Profiles, Value & Supply Chain Analysis, Five forces analysis and SWOT analysis for companies. Type in the search box the industry you are interested in and click on the “all research” arrow to filter by “Industry profile”.

Passport

Passport anticipates industry, economic and consumer trends and how to best navigate and lead disruptive change.
