Orbis: Subscription Extension and Access Through WRDS

The Orbis subscription has been expanded and access through WRDS is now available. As of now we will have access to information from small and medium-sized companies, in addition to the large and very large ones to which we already had access. In other words, all the information contained in Orbis Global, which as of today amounts to data on 524,256,432 companies.

Apart from web access, you will now have access to the following datasets via WRDS:

-BvD Orbis Very Large and Large Companies.
-BvD Orbis Medium Companies.
-BvD Orbis Small Companies.

Orbis is a global database, produced by Moody’s, of information on public and private companies worldwide.

Think of Orbis when you want to:
• Get extensive data about a company including locations of subsidiaries.
• Screen for companies based on geography, financial performance, industry, deals, ownership structure, number of employees, year of incorporation and other criteria.
• Compare a company to its competitors across multiple metrics and categories.

How to access Orbis?

Access Orbis campus-wide and off campus, from the Top Databases menu on the IESE Library homepage , by clicking on Orbis, or from the A-Z Databases page.

You can also access Orbis via WRDS campus-wide and off campus, from the A-Z Databases page by clicking on WRDS. You need to obtain your WRDS account.
