Manpower Group has just published the 4Q Manpower Employment Outlook Survey. The study, which polled more than 65,000 employers, reveals that prospects for job seekers are gloomier in most major economies than they were three months ago, as weak US and European economies begin to affect employers’ confidence in other parts of the world.
The Global Hiring Confidence Index shows that expectations in India and China are likely to cool off in the fourth quarter while Brazilian and Taiwanese employers continue to report robust hiring plans.
In Spain, despite the negative forecast, opportunities for job seekers improve quarter-over-quarter and employers report the most optimistic outlook in three years. Nearly 9 in 10 employers expect to hold on to the employees they have.
Although the survey reveals softer quarter-over-quarter forecasts in 21 of the 39 countries surveyed, suggesting growing hiring uncertainty, confidence levels are still stronger confidence than one year ago in the majority of locations.
