Going beyond the classic notion of the “ideal worker” and rethinking what companies actually need from their employees is the focus of the book edited by IESE professors Mireia Las Heras and Nuria Chinchilla, The New Ideal Worker: Organizations Between Work-Life Balance, Gender and Leadership.
Many managers and organizations still assume that employees who devote long hours to their jobs with no family interference are “ideal workers”. However, this assumption has negative consequences for employees, their families and their organizations.
Based on a wealth of empirical evidence from around the globe, as well as innovative conceptual frameworks, some of the data used to develop the study was obtained by using the resources available at the IESE Library, in particular the Catalog and our Article Databases.
We encourage you to read the e-book, which is now available at the Library. Hopefully, the application of this research will help to improve the lives of countless men and women as well as society at a large.
