Interested in knowing what the quartile of a particular journal is?

Go to A-Z Databases  and choose Web of Science. Select “Journal Citation Reports” from the menu bar on the top of the homepage.
Sign in using the “Institutional (Shibboleth) Sign In”. Select “Select your group or region” > “Federation of Spain by FECYT“.

Once in JCR enter in the search box the journal name you are interested in (e.g. Journal of Marketing Research) and press return. You’ll retrieve an InCites Journal Citation Report. Scroll down until the Journal source data table appears and click on the “Rank” tab. You will find all the information about quartile there.

Click on Explore Journal Ranks. Once in the SJR page, enter in the search box the journal title or ISSN you are interested in and press return. You’ll retrieve the Quartile information by Scopus. Quartile information is displayed either color or data. Click either on the “+” or “arrow” symbols to change from one display to the other.

Quartiles indicate where a journal’s ranking lies within a particular subject category. These quartiles rank the journals from highest to lowest based on their impact factor or impact index. There are four quartiles: Q1, Q2, Q3 and Q4. The most prestigious journals within a subject area are those occupying the first quartile, Q1.
