IESE’s MBA Career Forum is one of Europe’s leading MBA recruiting events. Twice a year, many of the world’s leading businesses come to IESE´s Barcelona Campus to find corporate interns and full-time employees. This October edition sets the path for a successful recruiting year.
Nico van den Brink, MBA Career Services Director, leads the Career Services department responsible for helping IESE MBA students finding their dream job and companies attracting the right talent. His team of seasoned professionals has managed to bring over 40 companies from various industries on campus for this event, which will take place between October 26th and 28th.
What is the Career Forum about?
The Career Forum includes a career fair, company presentations, one-to-one interviews with recruiters, coffee chats and a multitude of networking opportunities . This event is a perfect opportunity to match top talent with top employers, given that around 400 interviews will be held during the Career Forum. Can you give us an example of companies that will be participating?
Most of the top players of each industry will be on campus. The October Career Forum hosts all top Strategy Consulting companies and Investment Banks but industry and technology companies are also very well represented.
Besides the companies that have come to previous events, in this Career Forum we have companies like Goldman Sachs, Moët Hennessy, Nike, Opel and Uniqlo (Fast Retailing Group) coming for the first time, making this our biggest forum so far.
83% of graduating students were career switchers changing function, location or industry, proving that a top MBA can definitively boost your career in a new direction
For what countries do companies recruit?
Companies recruit depending on their needs for their offices around the world. The countries that each company is recruiting for is mentioned in our Career Forum guide.
Because of its international talent pool, IESE is classified as a global school for top consulting firms, like McKinsey & Company, The Boston Consulting Group and Bain & Company . This means that our students are considered for all their offices worldwide.
First round interviews are on IESE campus and done by global recruiters. The next round will be in the actual office that they have applied for.
Could you let us know some of this edition highlights?
Besides company presentations, there are informal networking events and lunches, interviews and a career fair. This event enables companies to optimize their time on campus, likewise our MBA students have no classes during these days and can focus on their jobhunt, interacting and interviewing with a high number of companies in a limited number of days.
Could you share with us some of the MBA employment figures?
2015 has been a good year with 91% of students having accepted an offer 3 months after graduation . This year 70% of accepted positions were outside of Spain and roughly half of the roles outside of Europe . 83% of MBA graduating students were career switchers changing function, location or industry , proving that a top MBA can definitively boost your career in a new direction.Do you have any other big recruiting events ?
