Biography
Carles Vergara-Alert is Professor of Finance at IESE Business School, where he teaches Corporate Finance and Real Estate courses in the MBA, Executive MBA, and Executive Education Programs. He has been a Visiting Professor of Real Estate Finance at the University of California, Berkeley (Haas School of Business).
His research focuses on how climate risk and frictions in the real estate markets affect the decisions of investors, managers, banks, and households. His research has been published in leading academic finance and real estate journals, and presented in conferences including the AFA, EFA, WFA, AEA, NBER, CEPR, and AREUEA annual meetings.
Carles earned his PhD in Business Administration (Finance and Real Estate) and a Master of Financial Engineering (MFE) from the University of California, Berkeley. Additionally, he earned a B.A. degree and an M.S. degree in Civil Engineering from the Universitat Politecnica de Catalunya.
He serves as independent advisor for corporate boards and as a member of boards of advisors. He has consulting experience in finance, real estate, infrastructure, healthcare, and energy.
